Buy One, Gift One

Basic Emergency Care

Helping strengthen emergency care

In an emergency, healthcare workers need to respond quickly and confidently. However, frontline teams in many parts of the world have limited opportunities to practice managing these situations before they encounter them in real life.

Through the Buy One, Gift One program, every Emergency Care Learning Lab purchased for use in a high-income country helps expand access to hands-on emergency care training in places where training opportunities are limited.

How Buy One, Gift One works

With every purchase of an Emergency Care Learning Lab through Laerdal Medical for use in a high-income country, another one is donated. Laerdal Global Health strategically allocates the training equipment to high-impact partner programs in low-income countries, working with local partners to ensure it reaches frontline healthcare teams where it can make the greatest difference.

The Lifeline Fund

The Lifeline Fund was established to scale the Basic Emergency Care training program to 777 facilities across four African countries.

This is the biggest coordinated implementation of the Basic Emergency Care program ever done. An Emergency Care Learning Lab has been donated to each of the 777 health facilities to support ongoing team-training.

The goal is to help save 50,000 additional lives each year.

A backpack full of lifesaving skills

The Emergency Care Learning Lab (ECLL) is a portable training kit designed to build the foundational life-saving skills of healthcare workers through hands-on practice. This practical package provides clear, step-by-step guidance on how to manage critical emergencies in low-resource settings.
