Laerdal Global Health will participate in the 34th International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) Triennial Congress, taking place in Lisbon, Portugal from June 14–18, 2026.

This global gathering brings together midwives, educators, researchers, and partners to share knowledge, advance midwifery practice, and address critical challenges in maternal and newborn health. At ICM 2026, LGH will contribute to sessions and partnerships focused on strengthening midwifery education and expanding the use of simulation-based learning to improve quality of care and save lives at birth.

ICM & Laerdal: SimBegin Level 1 Workshop (Invitation only)

Partners: ICM, Laerdal Global Health

An invitation-only pre-congress workshop co-facilitated by ICM and Laerdal Global Health, building the simulation-based education capacity of selected midwife leaders attending Congress. The SimBegin Level 1 training equips participants with practical skills in simulation facilitation, supporting the integration of this approach into midwifery education settings globally.

AIME Pre-Congress Workshop — Alliance to Improve Midwifery Education

An interactive full-day session bringing together all AIME partners to explore the latest tools and approaches in midwifery education. Featuring an exclusive showcase of the UNFPA–ICM Global Sample Curricula for Pre-Service Midwifery Education, hands-on simulation skill development, and exploration of how technology can optimise midwifery education. Limited to 100 participants. Morning coffee and lunch provided.

Facilitated by the full AIME partnership, this 90-minute hands-on workshop addresses a critical gap: midwife educators' access to regular clinical skills updates.

Jhpiego: Scaling Innovation — How Countries Transform Midwifery Training Through Helping Mothers Survive

This interactive session showcases how countries are transforming midwifery training through Jhpiego's Helping Mothers Survive (HMS) programme — a suite of simulation-based modules covering postpartum haemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, and more.
